Farm Economic Monitoring

Co-financed by the European Union and Greek national funds

Implementation method

The implementation of an online portal for optimal farm management is a Business Plan with a modular implementation process and multiple aspects. Initially, the platform is based on an existing structure created by the agricultural informatics laboratory of the Agricultural Economics sector of AUTH. This platform needs to be moved to a new site, configured and configured to be accessible by multiple users at the same time. In parallel with the management of the platform, the training of the platform to the producers and their familiarity with it will take place. Each producer who participates in the program will have his own account with a personalized username and password, so that he can enter his own data.

Through the initial management of the platform, the adaptation to the needs of the users that will be presented and the errors that will be pointed out will be done. The pilot application of the platform will be followed by the preparation of seminars and workshops to approach more producers with the focus always on the already correct and efficient operation for existing users.

The innovation

The Operational Plan concerns the most rational and cost-effective management of inputs and outputs of agricultural holdings. Consequently, it is an innovative tool in the hands of producers and a method of organization aimed at reducing production costs and improving competitiveness. Through the platform, the producer will have direct access to the technical and economic data of his farm, his obligations and his reserves.

The differentiation resulting from the use of the platform concerns the identification of critical spending periods, the optimal management of available cash and the reduction of travel costs. Based on the use of the platform, agricultural holdings become more efficient and more competitive in a rather fluid and volatile economic environment of the primary sector.
